Days for Girls
ENTERPRISE MODEL

Creating Local Ecosystems

is the Key to Program Sustainability

When you give a woman or girl a Days for Girls Kit, you give back days of education, health, and opportunity that would otherwise be missed.

When you provide a woman with the tools to make Days for Girls Kits and to educate others about the importance of

Menstrual Hygiene Management, that cycle moves forward.

The Days for Girls Enterprise Model does this through providing women with the tools to make DfG Kits, so they can then sell the DfG Kits, keep the funds, and reinvest part of their income to buy their next batch of materials, thus reaching more women and girls.

That’s how we create sustainability.

Days for Girls Enterprise Model

A Community-Driven Model

Like all Days for Girls programs, the Enterprise Model was developed based on input from women around the world:

"As much as I’m making profit, I’m also giving a life to the people...When you’re sewing, you create jobs for others. If you just take and give and you don’t go back, how will the rest benefit? There is no knowledge flow. There is empowerment in selling. People create, learn, and join what you’re doing."

Why it Works

Anchor 2

Generates Income

Which can be used to support education, transportation, housing, and other resources necessary to lift communities out of poverty.

Ensures Sustainability

So programs can continue as more women and girls need menstrual hygiene solutions for themselves & their families.

Supports Local Ownership

People support what they create. Ensuring that communities have the ability to meet their own needs is the best way to create long-term sustainability.

How it Works

We like to think of the Days for Girls Enterprise Model as a tree. The Centers provide the structure and support as a solid base.

The Micro-Enterprises branch out into new areas, supporting small-scale, grassroots projects.

And, the Kit Ambassadors are individual women who provide the final, key piece.
