Days for Girls International is thrilled to launch its 2017 Expeditions Program. DfG Expeditions will provide a unique opportunity for supporters and volunteers to travel with the Days for Girls Team to see the global impact being created by the DfG Model. Expedition Trips will be led by a DfG Staff Member in collaboration with our Regional Centers around the globe. These trips will combine DfG Distributions, Micro-Enterprise Support, Women's Health Training, and Exciting Tourism Opportunities. Ghana Itinerary

 

  • Friday April 28th evening

    • Arrive at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana.

    • Check in at Hotel near airport

  • Saturday April 29th

    • Spend the day at the DFG Ghana Center in Accra, working with women who are beginning DFG enterprises in their communities.

    • Overnight at Hotel

  • Sunday April 30th

    • Spend the morning in Accra, possibly working with underserved population in the city and/or purchasing supplies at local markets.

    • One hour flight to Tamale in early afternoon.

    • DfG Kit distribution.

    • Overnight at Hotel

  • Monday May 1st

    • We will be in rural communities around Tamale, helping women  with their sewing enterprises, teaching AWH health education and  distributing DfG kits to school girls.

    • Dinner at  Restaurant.

    • Overnight at  Hotel.

  • Tuesday May 2nd

    • Continue our work in rural communities in the Tamale region.

    • Overnight at Hotel

  • Wednesday May 3rd

    • Drive 2 ½ hours to Mole National Park. Possible DfG Kit  distribution enroute.

    • Settle in at Resort

  • Thursday May 4th

    • Optional morning safari. Relax and play at lodge.

    • Second night at Resort

  • Friday May 5th

    • Morning safari, then drive back to Tamale for flight to Accra.

    • Freetime.

    • Farewell Dinner.  

    • Overnight at Hostel

  • Saturday May 6th

    • Free day in Accra (markets, shop, sights).

    • Evening flights home.

  • Sunday May 7th

    • Arrive home.

    • Share stories and photos with friends and family!

Expedition: Ghana

Whether you are distributing Days for Girls kits in an resource challenged urban community, teaching Days for Girls health education in rural schools, meeting the Days for Girls Ghana team, or simply listening to proud women describe their DFG businesses, your experiences during the Ghana expedition will be meaningful. While we are still working on further specifics, expect to roll up your sleeves and get dusty!  Plan to also laugh and dance with the women, pump water from a well, sample local cuisine and debate about the perfect technique for using a squat toilet! Then, as the active portion of the trip comes to an end, it is important to come together as a team to “rehash and reflect” in beautiful surroundings before returning to our busy lives. Toss in a couple of safari drives and you’ve got one heck of an expedition! Period.

 

Cost per person, excluding airfare: $2,500-$3,000 depending on group size.
