One Million... And Counting!
YOU DID IT! One million women and girls!!! Days for Girls Chapters, Teams, Enterprises, Clubs, and volunteers reported their distributions from around the globe, while our partners, supporters, and sponsors created a tidal wave of end-of-year donations. All together, you've just made it possible for us to reach our millionth girl — in less than a decade! Better yet, we're building the infrastructure and momentum to get menstrual health solutions and education to Every Girl. Everywhere. Period. One million strong. Happy New Year, indeed! That's cause for an official happy dance, which reminds me of my recent visit with Schools for Salone, a DfG Enterprise in Sierra Leone, funded by the country's U.S. Embassy. These Sierra Leone ladies do exemplary sewing. As they refined yet another technique for sewing quality DfG components with speed, we cheered while learning. The lush green hillside echoed with their giggles and happy singing, "We are the champions! We are the champions... of the woooorld!"
It wasn't so long ago that people questioned whether an organization dedicated to accessible and sustainable menstrual hygiene management (MHM) was even needed. As Days for Girls looks ahead to our 10th birthday this fall, your commitment, voices, and impact have shown the world that our movement matters because dignity, health, and opportunity matter. Here's to you all, our Champions of Days for Girls, and to the power of what we can do together in the years to come.
