Monitoring & Evaluation Resources

  • Have you seen our blog post about M&E?

  • Check out this Powerpoint Presentation for an overview on the M&E process with screenshots and explanations on what to expect before you dive in!

  • Check out this video for a deep dive into how to use our Monitoring & Evaluation tools on your next trip! It features our very own DfG Uganda staff.

Key resources to get you started:

  • Monitoring & Evaluation Instructions Guide – This helpful guide walks you through the step-by-step process for M&E when going on a distribution so you better understand how to use the tools while in the community! (Hint - This includes screenshots on how to set up the tools on your phone to work without internet connection!)

  • Register my DfG Activity – This form is for those who already have DfG Kits ready to distribute. It allows you to share your planned activities with us so we can provide you with the details on how to conduct M&E on your trip. Specifically, it includes links to the surveys and a Women's Impact Number (WIN ID) which you'll use on subsequent M&E forms for this distribution. (This allows us to track all the data from your trip activities over time to see the impact of the Kits - so exciting!)

  • Site Contact FormThis form helps capture key trip information on the site where you’re conducting a DfG Kit distribution. It’s designed to be printed out and filled out in person with the community leader you are working with at your distribution. It also provides us with contact information for the community you are working with so we can follow-up with these leaders and capture your impact!

Surveys to use with participants:

Going on a DfG Kit Distribution and want to collect really helpful and important data while you’re there? These are your resources:

  • DfG Group Survey (Pre-Distribution) – This survey helps capture key information on the group you are distributing DfG Kits to before providing them with a solution to manage their menstruation. This will give a baseline snapshot to help fully understand the impact of DfG Kits on the lives of women and girls we work with.

  • DfG Individual Survey (Pre-Distribution) – This survey helps capture more detailed information on individual members of the group before providing them with a solution to manage their menstruation. It is completely anonymous and meant to be conducted with a small sample size of the group you are working with. This survey provides a richer baseline for understanding the impact of DfG Kits and menstrual solutions on the lives of women and girls we work with.

Surveys to use if you've done a distribution in the past:

Want to capture the impact of the Kits at a location where you did a distribution in the past but did not conduct any baseline surveys or M&E last time? No problem! Use our custom follow-up surveys to see the impact of DfG Kits on the lives of women and girls:

  • Register Your DfG Follow-Up Activity - This form is for those who already distributed DfG Kits in the past but did not register that trip or conduct M&E during the first visit. It allows you to share more information on the original distribution so we can provide you with the details on how to conduct follow M&E. Specifically, it includes links to the surveys and a Women's Impact Number (WIN ID) which you'll use on all M&E forms for this follow-up visit.

  • DfG Group Survey (Follow-Up After Distribution) - This survey helps capture key information on the group AFTER receiving a solution to manage their menstruation (a DfG Kit). This helps us see the impact of DfG Kits on the lives of women and girls we work with!

  • DfG Individual Survey (Follow-Up After Distribution) - This survey helps capture more detailed information on select individuals in the group AFTER receiving a solution to manage their menstruation (a DfG Kit). It is completely anonymous and meant to be conducted with a small sample size of the group you are working with.

Surveys to use if you've already done a pre-distribution survey and want to go back and do follow-up:

Going on a follow-up visit at a distribution location where you conducted “Pre-Distribution” surveys, and want to collect really helpful information on the impact of the DfG Kits while you’re there?

  • DfG Group Survey (Post-Distribution) - This survey helps capture key information on the group AFTER receiving a solution to manage their menstruation (a DfG Kit). This helps us compare how the group responds now relative to before receiving the Kits so we can understand the impact of DfG Kits on the lives of women and girls we work with!

  • DfG Individual Survey (Post-Distribution) - This survey helps capture more detailed information on individual members of the group AFTER receiving a solution to manage their menstruation (a DfG Kit). It is completely anonymous and meant to be conducted with a small sample size of the group you are working with. This survey provides a richer understanding of the impact of DfG Kits!

Other helpful M&E resources:

  • Video Introduction to KoBo Toolbox – This quick video provides an overview of the KoBo Toolbox platform that we use for our Days for Girls survey tools. Bonus - it allows us to collect data digitally in challenging environments without access to an Internet connection! Watch the video to learn more!

  • Recover my WIN ID – The Women’s Impact Number (“WIN ID” for short) is the ID number you receive when you complete a DfG Kit Request or fill out a Register my DfG Activity form. It is the ID number you use in any subsequent M&E you conduct while in the community for this specific distribution and it allows us to track all the data from your trip activities over time to see the impact of your Kits on the women and girls you worked with – so exciting!

FAQ

1. What if I'm really intimidated by data?

We all already are data-gatherers. When you ask a friend how her family is doing, that's gathering data. When you're asking questions to get to the root of a misunderstanding with a co-worker, that's gathering data.

2. Will I get to see my results?

Absolutely! DfG gathers all the data, and then will publish the data through maps, graphs, and other visuals on a regular basis. Check back into the website frequently to see how your efforts are adding up to the big picture.

3. I'm just not very tech-savvy. Is this easy?

Yes. All you need to do is just download KoBo on a phone or tablet, and then you will be able to access the surveys. Any technical questions? We're only an email away.

4. Does doing the surveys take a long time?

No, the surveys are short. If you are working with a translator, it will take longer. However, the group survey shouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes. Just take a look at everything beforehand so you're familiar with the questions.
