FAQs
What is #CountHERin?
#CountHERin is Days for Girls International’s annual campaign to spread awareness, raise funds & reach an incredible milestone of 1 million women & girls by 2018! We believe she counts!
What's the goal?
We are soooo close to reaching 1 million women and girls. We just need a little extra push! To date, we have provided DfG Kits and education to 800,000 women and girls so this campaign will bring us to an incredible achievement of ONE MILLION served! That’s our GOAL!
How long does the campaign last?
From Sept. 9, 2017 until Jan. 1, 2018. Fundraisers can start ANYTIME during this period. The sooner the better!
Are there matching funds? How do they work?
Funders who offer to match donations for Days for Girls campaigns generally restrict them to Days for Girls International contributions. If we have a donor who would also like to match Chapters or Teams, we'll make sure to let everyone know!
How can DfG Chapters, Teams, Micro-Enterprises, and Clubs get involved?
Glad you asked because without YOU, we could not have reached 800,000!
Your willingness to get involved is so very, very important and here is how you do it.
-
First, you will use your own Chapter or Team fundraising page to raise funds during the campaign (more info below about how to set up a page).
-
Then you invite your teammates to fundraise under your chapter/team.
-
Finally you send out an email to ask for support. Don’t be shy — people love to give to a worthwhile cause and Days for Girls’ mission is awesome — wouldn’t you agree!
-
And since our DNA is all about gratitude, you thank them (also more info about that in the “how to” section).
When my DfG Team raises funds, will the entire amount go back to us?
Almost! If requested, and you are a registered DfG chapter, team or micro enterprise, funds raised through your page may be sent to your group at the end of the campaign, minus 10%. Unfortunately we do have to pay credit card fees, our online platform fee and accounting fees, which adds up to 10%. If you are not a registered DfG prior to 9/1/2017, then all funds raised will go to Days for Girls International. If you raise more than $5,000 you will need to submit a plan to DfGI for using funds.
What benefits can I expect through participating in the campaign?
You’ll receive support from Days for Girls International to keep the momentum going and to get supporters excited to participate in the count. DfGI will share messages, memes, videos and social media posts that you can push out on your campaign page, Facebook pages and on emails. We will have themes that will be promoted, giving you a reason to have a steady stream of posts with our Facebook pages. Be sure to hop over to our Days for Girls International Facebook page and “Follow” us. You don’t want to miss out on the fantastic incentives and bonus challenge prizes you can win! Look for those to be sprinkled into the campaign on regular basis.
Most importantly, every donation you raise through your page goes towards our official count of bringing DfG to 1 million!
What if I'm not a DfG Team, but I want to raise funds to support DfG?
That would be awesome! Your donations will help us reach one million women and girls around the world. Thank you!
What if my Team raises more money than we need?
Another great question! Days for Girls International has plenty of awesome projects and programs but we are often limited in carrying them out, due to funding. Projects like making all our trainings available on video. Or designing a girls’ comic book that we leave after a health training class that is language specific. The list goes on but without funding, it ends with dreams. When you give your extra funds to Days for Girls International you are helping us stay on the cutting edge of innovation.
I know businesses that would like to support Days for Girls International. What should I tell them?
Please encourage everyone to participate -- we need their help! They can donate directly to the Days for Girls website or start their own fundraising pages and teams! We are also looking for matching grants, sponsorships for our weekly themes and incentive prizes. If you have a connection, please don’t hesitate to reach out to development@daysforgirls.org to let us know. We need your help, great ideas and connections!
How are you counting one woman or girl reached?
For each $10 donated, we will count this as one women or girl reached
($10= one DfG Kit = woman or girl).
We will also count each DfG Kit made if you are making Kits.
(one DfG Kit made and distributed=woman or girl)
How will the DfG Kits that we make count towards the 1 million?
The kits your Chapter, Team or Micro-Enterprise makes will count towards our goal once they are distributed. Be sure that Kit Request forms are filled out online through our DfGI website to ensure we get your count. Once we receive your numbers we will update our count on DfG’s website.
How do I set up my fundraising page? (the “how to part”)
We’ve made it super easy to set up your team fundraising page. See the video above for step by step instructions. It will take 5 minutes from start to finish!
What if I have technical questions setting up my fundraising page?
For technical or fundraising platform type of questions, please email countHERin@daysforgirls.org.
When will I receive my funds?
Funds will be sent out bi-weekly to registered Chapters & Teams. If you have a question, please email, accounting@daysforgirls.org
What if I need help fundraising?
We’ve got you covered! We have a FUNdraising toolkit on our DfG website. The toolkit has ideas, tips and templates ready to use. You can also check out the Fundraising Tips video we’ve attached for more ideas. Go ahead and collaborate & share ideas on Chapter Chat and with your Regional Reps, too. There’s a lot of teams that host fantastic fundraisers. Sharing with one another is the best way to reach our goal.
We recommend you share our posts from our DfGI Facebook page. We’ll have weekly updates to keep you going. Ask your donors to make their gift count even more. Ask them to ask 3 or 4 of their friends to donate to help us reach 1 million women and girls.
Can my volunteers also fundraise?
Yes! Once you set up your fundraising page, just share your team page link with them. All donations will funnel through your team page.
Once the campaign ends, will I be able to continue to fundraise using this platform?
At the end of the campaign, we will work with you to make sure you don’t lose any information and can keep a fundraising page up. More information will be sent to you in early January to make this transfer.
I still have questions. Who should I contact?
Please email development@daysforgirls.org and we will try to respond right away.
Thank you!
Let’s make HER COUNT!
